God's Plan

The Family

“Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony,” (First Presidency, 1995). This excerpt taken from the LDS worldwide proclamation, The Family, A Proclamation to the World, comes directly from the Lord and identifies his plan for his children. Unfortunately, we live on this earth simultaneously with Satan and his plan to destroy the happiness of God’s children.
According to the Institute for American Values, The State of Our Unions Marriage in America 2012, the incline in children being born to single mothers, cohabitating couples and divorce is leading to a nation born of children who are economically, socially and emotionally unstable. Why does this matter? “Marriage fosters small cooperative unions—also known as stable families—that enable children to thrive, shore up communities, and help family members to succeed during good times and to weather the bad times,” (Charlottesville, VA: National Marriage Project and Institute for American Values, 2012). This statement supports Gods proclamation that children have the right to reside in a home with a mother and a father. America is now realizing that its problems are stemming from the breakdown of marriage and the family unit.  God knows this and in 1995 through The Family, A Proclamation to the World declared, “WE CALL UPON responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society,” (First Presidency, 1995).

State of the Unions
President Kimball, an LDS Prophet, understood God’s plan for families but also saw and warned about the cunning plan of Satan to destroy families. He states, “…only those who believe deeply and actively in the family will be able to preserve their families in the midst of the gathering evil around us,” (Kimball, 1980). It is our responsibility as individuals and families to stand up for and follow God’s plan for his children and create a more stable nation.Image result for lds clipart family fun
